When it comes to keeping your new puppy protected from fleas, ticks, and infections that cause Lyme disease, there’s only one chew on the market that is FDA-approved to do all three: NexGard® (afoxolaner). NexGard® kills infected black-legged ticks before the bacteria that cause Lyme disease can be transmitted. Approved for puppies as young as 8 weeks and weighing at least 2 kgs, just one dose of NexGard® kills fleas and ticks for 30 days.
How does Nexgard work?
Nexgard works by using the active ingredient afoxolaner, which interferes with the nervous system of fleas and ticks, causing hyperexcitation and ultimately leading to their death.
Is Nexgard effective against all types of ticks?
NexGard is effective against several common tick species, including the American dog tick, black-legged tick, brown dog tick, and the Lone Star tick. However, it may not be effective against all tick species.
How long does it take for Nexgard to start working?
Nexgard starts killing fleas within 8 hours and ticks within 48 hours after administration.
